We are thrilled to have the support of Book Events (the corporate division of The Book People) for the second year in a row. As our official book sale partner they raised over £13,000 for us in 2013 which meant we could make another four talking books for children.
‘We are passionate about books at the Book People, and we’re equally passionate about the pleasure reading can bring people from all walks of life. Inspiration, empowerment, knowledge and empathy – books can provide all of these things and more, and everyone has a right to enjoy them.
We believe blind and partially sighted people should have access to the widest possible range of books and for that reason we support RNIB.
The project opens up the world of reading for more people- whatever their reading ability – and we are extremely proud to say RNIB will now be able to add four fantastic new talking books to their National Library Service because of the fundraising efforts of our Book Events staff and the companies they work alongside.” – CEO Seni Glaister
The importance of Talking Books
Watch 13 year old Alexia, a self confessed book worm, talk about how important talking books are to her life and how grateful she is to The Book People for supporting RNIB (with subtitles on YouTube).
Find out more about how your company can hold a Book Event – and donate 10 per cent to RNIB. The great thing is that it will be completely organised and managed by Book Events, with no disruption to the day to day running of your office. They do all the work for you whilst you get books up to 75 per cent off the RRP. Brilliant!!
