Thank you from Read for RNIB

16 October 2013

Mayor of London supports Read for RNIBThank you to everyone who took part in Read for RNIB 2013.

On Friday, 11 October 2013 thousands of people across the country joined with us to help change the story for blind and partially sighted people.

In London Waterloo train station we joined with celebrities and members of the public alike to help give “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” a curiouser and curiouser twist. Sections of the story were narrated throughout the day to create a unique audio book. The Read for RNIB team were joined by hundreds of members of the public alongside such famous faces (and voices as); Boris Johnson, Ollie Locke, Frank Lampard, Anneka Rice, John Humphrys, Caroline Quentin and Phyllida Law. You can see more on the day’s activities on our exciting video from Waterloo.

Supporters who were unable to make it to Waterloo were able submit a recorded passage from the comfort of their own home or workplace. The finished talking book will be made available through RNIB’s National Library Service as a celebration of the day’s achievements in helping to record an entire talking book in just one day!

You can view more photographs from the day on our Read for RNIB Day Facebook photo album. If you haven’t already done so you can join the 10,000 plus followers and Like our Facebook page to keep up to date with the latest Read for RNIB news and events.
